I can't find a way to have the game retain my left-handed Mouse configuration. Is this possible?
Best RPG I've played in a very long time. My top list:
1) Ultima Underworld 2) Divinity - Original Sin (Already at #2!) 3) Fallout 3 4) Divine Divinity - The Original 5) Skyrim

What exactly does it need to retain...?
If you don't swap M1 and M2 then there's no need to do that. But if you do swap M1 and M2 then you'd do that either in your mouse's driver or in the windows control panel...

My mouse is configured as a left-handed mouse. Every application I run on my Windows machine works this way, except Divinity Original Sin. I click buttons in other applications using the right button with my left hand, but I have to use the Left button to click buttons in Divinity. When in-game, even though the right button is configured as my primary button and works that way in all other applications, I have to click the left button to move my characters around.

The game doesn't support swapping mouse buttons, yet.

anyone know if Larian plans to do this anytime soon? I am having a difficult time playing this as a right handed mouse and it's killing the enjoyment of the game. Any support from Larian on this?

I bought DOS last night for me and a friend to play through,
This was the first thing I went to change and was a bit shocked to find that you couldn't swap the buttons.
It might seem like a small item, but take any game you play and flip the buttons around. Yeah you can train yourself to reverse the clicks, but it takes away from your enjoyment because you're constantly thinking about it.

Just placed an order for this game and im looking forward to play it. Hopefully they will fix this soon so that left handed players(like me!) can fully enjoy the game.

It does not seem to have much, if any, priority to them at all. They still haven't even bothered to acknowledge that us lefties can't remap the keys properly, let alone promise a fix.

They have actually acknowledged that, and said it was on the to-do list.

Still not addressed. No surprise there. What's up with the attitude. Larian are listening in this forum and they are fixing issues as fast as they can. They have confirmed that left handed mouse is on the todo list. Give it a rest, will you?

When is this going to be addressed? Someone in the forum said "it's on the to do list so give it a rest". I am left handed and when I realized one of the very basic game options (assigning keys) is not available for the mouse, quite frankly, pisses me off. This reason alone makes me not want to play the game. Making it a waste of $40. Since Larian already has my money and they will get this this blatant neglect when they feel like it, I feel like I'm being scammed out of a game because it is not enjoyable to play... How has this not been addressed before leaving any development phase is beyond me.

A lot of Larian is on vacation until the August 4th. I'd expect the next update to be a week or two after that, depending on how large it is. There has been no ETA given for this specific issue, though (as is usually the case).

In the meantime there is a viable workaround. Open the files Data\PlayerProfiles\Default\inputconfig.xml and Data\PlayerProfiles\Eoc\inputconfig.xml from the game directory. Search for the texts "MOUSEBUTTON1" and "MOUSEBUTTON2" and replace all instances to "MOUSEBUTTON2" / "MOUSEBUTTON1". There should be 2 lines you'll have to change in each file. Default\inputconfig.xml:
<!-- default mouse bindings -->
<IE_MouseButtonLeft pikey="MOUSEBUTTON1" ...
<IE_MouseButtonRight pikey="MOUSEBUTTON2" ...
Eoc\inputconfig.xml:
<IE_Action1 pikey="MOUSEBUTTON1" ...
<IE_Action2 pikey="MOUSEBUTTON2" ...

Those aren't RPGs, they're extremely boring item and level scaled action games with terrible UIs.

Sorry, this does not seem to be available for recent versions coming off of Steam.

Tryed to follow your workaround.
Under the steam installation folder there is no profiles directory.
Checked the usual suspects out and found the sneaky bugger hiding at :- C:\Users\username\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin
there is a profile dir there, no actual .xml files but .lsx (in xml format)
inputBinding.lsx the only semi related file I could find however it only contains keyboard bindings and none for mouse.
EDIT:- I have a steam version.
