So I've learned the basics of BS and even crafted a few weapons for myself. But, all of them are white. Is there a way to add bonuses like additional crit chance or strength?

Also, speaking of tenebrium, whetstone, essences etc. - can you apply each of those to the weapon and receive all the effects or only one enhancer will be applied and overwritten?

When it comes to Blacksmithing I've found out a couple of things which might help you:

1st - boost the weapons, free damage. This is done by the whetstone wheel in Cyseal, or just by a whetstone (uses it up). Bowstrings do the same for bows as a whetstone does for other weapons.
2nd - You can add 2 essences/tenebrium bars to a weapon. If you add a Tenebrium then add a Fire essence, you actually halve the bonus damage (as in it's shared between the 2 extra sources so just having 1 added on will produce the same level of damage).
3rd - Sextants will add Perception to a bow, Tormented Souls add +2 str/dex to a weapon. You can buff weapons quite nicely with things like this, but due to the rarity save them for unique/awesome orange weapons.

Your second point suggests that one can add two tenebrium bars or 2 essences as well instead of tenebrium+essence?

Don't really want big spoilers, but where do you get Tormented Souls? Random drop, crafting? I'm level 8 and haven't found any yet.

Also, can these Souls only be applied once or numerous times?

So there's no way to add things like crit or % to apply state right?

Tormented Souls can be bought from vendors. You can only use get the boni from each "enchantment" once.

I don't know of a recipe that adds +crit chance , but with blacksmithing 5 the weapons can have additional boni. At level 22 handcrafted 2-Handed Axes can have +26% crit.

Examples of good item upgrades:
With blacksmithing and crafting you can massively boost your gear:
Rubies adds +25% resistance from all 4 Elements to your Armor
Scales adds +10% Armor
Anvil removes the Movement penalty from Heavy Armor and replaces it with +0.10 Movement

Tenebrium adds +30% close to unpreventable damage and checks the Ability Tenebrium instead of its old category (1handed / Bow /...) for the calculation of bonus damage (in addition to the above 30%)
Adding Spikes (Nails) to your Boots adds Immunity to Slipping
Whetstone adds +25% additional damage (regular damage and elemental damage)
Tormented Soul adds +2 Dexterity and +2 Strength (+3 /+3 if you are level 22+) to any weapon
Sextant adds +2 Pereption to ranged weapons (+3 if you are level 22+)

Examples of good crafted items
My handcrafted 2-Handed Axe deals 1066 dmg per hit, the Bow 549 or the 1Handed Sword of Planets with 656 damage and +25% resistancefrom all 4 Elements (not counting temporary boni, stances or resistances). This also has the benefit that you can always use a weapon that is your level.

Voodoo Dolls are one time items that deal ~500 damage +75% Bleeding for 0 AP (level dependend). You can craft > 50 of these during the game.
With enough Pixie Dust you can craft whatever (Fire, Water, Air, Earth or Witchcraft) Spellbook you want.
On top of that you can craft Rings, Amulets and Belts that give +1 to one of your attributes and selected Abilities (+2 later) or the +2 Int Staff (+3 later) for your Mage.

You can make a lot of Gold selling your crafted items: A sharpened 1 handed Axe that requires nothing but a regular steel bar has a nominal value of 3204 Gold. Most Iron Weapons can be forged back into Iron / Steel Bars, which can be more profitable than selling them.

Thanks for answering my questions buddy, I've actually read that guide you have quoted, but I've created this thread as some things were still unclear to me. Perhaps you could update it with a more accurate information now? E.g. that you can only use those boni once per item etc.
