Hello all, I created a video tutorial doing what I couldn't find the answer for, hopefully it helps someone out.

Steps
=======

  • Get lstools (see notes)
  • Extract Main.pak somewhere outside of your D:OS directory
  • Create the folders "Mods\Main\CharacterCreation" under your "Divinity - Original Sin\Data" directory.
  • From the extracted PAK files, copy a file from "Unpack\Mods\Main\CharacterCreation\HenchManPresets" into your "Data\Mods\Main\CharacterCreation\ClassPresets"
  • Start the game and select the preset with the hireling file you copied.

Notes
=======
You'll need the newest version of lstools Thanks to Norbyte for this.

Fantastic! Thank you so much for this Greymeister.

Just a note: Somebody really needs to start collecting these wonderful tutorials and guides into a central location so that they don't get buried and lost in the forums smile.

I have a feeling if you do the reverse, you can make henchmen able to have PC looks, giving a greater variety.

Would require some new henchmen options, but this is a promising development, thank you.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. I can't stand that there are so few choices on your character appearance. Thanks for figuring this out.

A few thoughts/questions though:

1. Could the bodies be replaced as well? I don't like that I have to play a hulking body builder if I want to play a male. It just doesn't make much sense playing a mage or a wiley thief.

2. Is there a wiki or other place to find the faces of all NPCs so I can choose what I want?

3. Anyone know if I can do this in multi-player if both game copies make the same changes?

4. [Request] Would love for someone to mod these faces right into the character creation.

Hi. I'm slowly working my way through the mod forums to catch up on what has already been figured out. Can someone help me understand the importance of this tutorial? I know you can make any character a player so I'm assuming this some how takes it to the next step.

Thanks

This made it really easy to cycle through the henchman faces; thanks for that.

I've been considering working out some custom henchmen just to lose the annoying conversation with the condescending jerkface mage and the provincial bigoted warrior.

But the main thing I realized from using your tutorial is this:
  • Many of the henchmen hairstyles - Skrillex aside - are as good or better than the player hairstyles.
  • Every last one of the faces, male *or* female, is really, truly hideous. I mean, Norman Rockwell on the worst day of his life hideous.
    • Appalling scars are appalling, so go Larian there.
    • Unscarred faces are lumpy, distorted, tragic, malnourished or simian.
    • Several faces are way too small for the head model.
    • Least reopulsive head in the lot is Jahan's. This is not high praise.
What the hell happened? Other NPC faces are moderately attractive or at least non-repulsive. They're the right size for the heads. Expressions are pleasant, not carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. Why are the henchmen so awful?

Pardon the rant. Thanks for the tip, even if I can't sleep tonight.

I'ma see what I can do about porting over a couple more of those hairstyles - Mr. Esturk did a couple of them for the women. Maybe I can steal, er, build on his work.
