Yup. Having the same issue. Found this post searching for issue on Google.

Mac OS 10.9.4
Running latest patch for game(1.0.78)

Didn't notice the correlation with the map until I read this post!

Also, Pontius Pirate's ship is completely blacked out(even after exploring the area with an invisible character). Couldn't get a helpful screenshot of that because it's..well...all black
