I keep reading about some books that the Teller of Secrets has for sell that raise stats or something. Can I get some details on these and what exactly they do ... and what they are called.

Not sure anymore, how exactly the books are called, but since she sells only 2 it's easy to figure out by using quicksave/load.
One raises your attributes by 1, the other your abilities by 3.

Apparently, it was supposed to be fixed by now, but she still restocks the books each level. So if you don't use weird tactics to unlock her at lvl 4-5, you still should be able to get her @lvl 8-10, depending on how you play. It needs 5 star/bloodstones to get the room and that's the exact amount of stones you can gather on the Cyseal map....

Guess, there will be another hotfix incoming soon

I'm level 13 now and have talked to her, but never noticed any books. I just bought all her treasure maps. I'll have to check again.

Can't check, since the last huge patch I decided to restart the game and I made quite some mistakes while leveling up as well. (and so deleted my saves too)
But am 100% sure they were right in their inventory when I first met her and I remember the unmodified price of 1 book was 5000 gold.

They give u ability points and skill point and i think they get more expensive as she restocks them tho not sure.

Well she only has 2 books and the rest are maps, so there is no way to miss them.
If you open up the Last Chest in your homestead you get the same books again.
