Did you try using the red pyramid first, and dropping the blue one back on the floor in the bathroom? Maybe try reading the teleporter manual Zixzax gave you, if you still have it.
It seems like the blue pyramid was simply not enabled when you first picked it up. I was planning on starting a new game this weekend, so will try to reproduce this when I get to that point.
