Hello,

Has anyone encountered this problem? I have the following PC:

Intel i5-2500 @ 3.3
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6800

Despite the game suggesting "Ultra" settings, I run it on high because I notice very little difference in GFX.

The problem I have is that after maybe an hour or two of playing, the game starts to "lag" (get choppy) and then out of nowhere my computer turns off. I have to turn it back on manually and same thing happens, this is only game that I've ever had that problem with.

Anyone have any solutions? It's a tad annoying specially when I forget to save.

do you have v-sync or frame cap enabled ? if not, then your graphics card is probably overheating from rendering too many frames.

I have neither turned on, should I turn them on to prevent this?

What other alternatives do I have to prevent card from overheating?

Have you checked you computer's temperature with software like 'HWMonitor' or 'Real Temp' (or maybe build-in software)?
If this does indicate that you get high temperatures you can:
- clean out your pc to get rid of dust buildup (always handy)
- get a better fan
- reposition the pc for better air-flow
- run game on lower settings

This is just off the top of my head so there might be other solutions (to overheating).

In regards to v-sync and frame cap I don't have enough knowledge to make a judgement on that. What I found from a quick Google search is that it might help decrease load on you gpu/cpu and therefor reduce temperatures.

well..start by frame capping the game to 60fps. you don't need more than that. Also just to be safe, download 'rivatuner' or 'evga precision' to monitor you gpu temp and also control gpu fan speed , catalyst control panel can also be used. If temp. are abnormally high, you should stop playing immediately and do the things BlueFlamingSky said to prevent damaging your card.
