I had one magic inkpot I used to make several scrolls. Later, after making some new paper, I tried to use them again. The inkpot and scrolls just swapped, so I made sure I had my crafting gear on. I did; both BS and Crafting were at 5. Thinking maybe you only get a certain number out of a pot, I made another and that one's doing the same thing.

Is there something I'm missing or have I been bitten by a bug?

Sounds like you tried to mix Blank Paper and Magic Ink Pot and Quill. That will not work. You need to create blank scrolls first (different recipe for each school), then use the Magic Ink Pot and Quill on them. Just checking that you didn't try to skip one of the steps...
