It's a fairly consistent problem. 2 out of 3 times when I join him the stats are messed up. It's always in a safe place where there is no combat. Restarting only sometimes fixes it.
I haven't tried your last suggestion though. Might be worth looking into. It would be nice to not have the problem though, hopefully it'll get patched.
