So I was posting about a week ago that I am unable to load any saves prior to the V1.0.72 patch. I thought that the issue was only with loading saved games and that starting a new game would work just fine.

However, when I tried starting a new game today, the exact same thing happened. The game would proceed to the progress bar stage, where it would go 80% grayish (fade transition most likely) and get stuck at that point. When I try multiplayer, it gets irresponsive on connecting.

The game is unkillable, and keeps taking system resources. Because of this, Steam won't let me launch another instance of the game, or launch any other game for that matter. As you might imagine, troubleshooting is hard when you have to restart your computer every time you launch the game (signing off doesn't kill it).

So as of patch V1.0.72 the game is unplayable for me. I've of course e-mailed the support with my report.zip file four days ago, although with no response thus far. I've verified the game cache, launched the game as admin, later reinstalled the game, while deleting my profile of course, and it STILL doesn't work.

At the very least, I would expect support to react a little faster than this, I paid money for the game after all. The reason I made this thread is to get at least some extra attention towards my problem, one other guy posted below me that he had the same problem, yet nothing seems to be happening about it.

Thanks in advance for any possible solution you might provide, I haven't made this thread to mock or insult the studio, I just want to get the game running to at least a certain extent...

Bump, because I hope it isn't against the forum rules.

Try browsing to the '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder and renaming the 'Divinity Original Sin' subfolder.
This folder contains the saved games, configuration files and a level cache folder. Deleting or renaming it will get the game to recreate it on startup; playing the game from a different Windows user account would effectively do the same thing.
After that, start D:OS, create a new profile and see if you can start a new game and save/load. If so, try moving some of your current saves, if applicable, from the renamed folder to the newly created profile's savegames folder.

I have the same problem. Just bought the game today and click new game/single player i don't even get to 1 % it flashing a loading screen then stops responding with background music still playing. Cannot force end the process and have to restart windows just to end it. Its cool this game was kick started but im not on the fan wagon just yet and i expect this game to work.

Please email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool (for the PC version). The report will contain system and game information, any crash dumps, and would contain your saved games, if you were able to get that far.

Crash on startup [Solved]

If you have a 32 bit version of Windows, see a possible solution in the topic: save still causing crash after latest patch.

I reinstalled the game and deleted the folder in the documents, I mentioned that in the post. I also emailed the report.zip file.. Four days ago. And no, I do not have a 32-bit version of Windows. Thanks for trying though.

Those suggestions were for Manathos, actually.

Oh I see, well, I've tried a couple more general solutions posted on this forum and it still does not work. It would be awesome if you guys were able to fix this quickly, I'm really eager to play the game.

I hereby confess to be a serious retard. Fixed by allowing the future changes of the application in the antivirus options. Sorry for wasting your time.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully it'll help others who haven't tried disabling their anti-virus (and other non-essential background programs).

I was having issues starting the game. It would get to loading module screen. Load a bit and then crash to. "Divinity stopped working." I turned off all non essential background programs, I.e. virus protection, team speak, etc. I then updated my graphics card. Nothing worked. Not until I verified the cache integrity from steam. It told me one file was unverrifiable. I ran it again and it verified all of them. I then ran the game from steam. All is well. The game is working so far. No more problems.
