A roof is actually a wall. Select the wall button, you should then be able to select your roof section.
Then, the flat part is the roof tiling, that can be scaled, if I recon well.
edit NVM, I tried, can't seem to do nothing. Sorry :-(
What are you trying to achieve ? A flat roof ?
