So I just started playing D:OS yesterday, but even after reading the manual available from Steam, I'm a bit fuzzy on the Attitude mechanics, particularly where newly created characters are concerned. Unfortunately, searching the forums and the few wikis I found shed no light on the questions I have.

Since players can create two characters, I figure I'd reprise a couple of my D&D/Pathfinder characters a bard and a transmuter/tinker who are twin sisters. Given the constraints of this game, I figured this would equate to the bard being a charismatic rogue, and the transmuter a wizard. I decided to make the left-hand character a Rogue with Politician and Charismatic, and the Wizard has Scientist rather than Know-It-All.

After starting the game, I hovered my mouse over the Wizard and noticed her attitude read as "15". Upon switching to the Wizard and hovering my mouse over the Rogue, I was surprised to see her Attitude reading as "0". Given that I wanted the Rogue to the party's spokesperson and had specifically boosted her Charisma by 3-points, this seemed rather odd to me.

I went thru character creation again, and once again it seems that the 1st character has an Attitude of 0, and the 2nd starts at 15.

Sooo, could someone perhaps explain to me why there is a discrepancy in starting Attitude between my two characters, how these starting Attitudes are calculated, and what effect differences in Attitude between characters has on gameplay? Any insight would be appreciated.

When you hover over a character, their "attitude" is how much they like the character that you are controlling.

15 means that your wizard likes your rogue.
0 means that your rogue IS your rogue, and thus has no opinion on herself.

If you want to do an accurate test, find an npc and then hover over them. Then switch characters and hover over them again.

Ah ok, so I've progressed a bit further and now that I'm in town, I can see that NPCs have an attitude of 20 toward my Rogue, and -15 toward my Wizard so I guess the extra points in Charisma are working as they should.

Thanks for the explanation! smile
