Hello!

I haven't been able to find this answer, as of yet...When I'm entering a battle (and it switches to 'Turn Based'), is there a way to switch/choose between which character I attack with 'first'? As of right now, I'm playing with a Mage and a Knight...It seems that whenever a battle starts, it immediately chooses the 'Mage' to attack first and I simply don't want that. If I haven't used 'any' action points (for either character) what the heck determines who attacks first??? Is there a button I need to click that switches characters and would allow my Knight to attack first??

Thank you!

i believe it is decided by the speed of each character...or some stat...

What you can do immediately is delay your knight's turn until after your mage's (Delay and Escape buttons appear at the right side of the screen during combat.) This may let some of the enemies attack before your knight, though.

To fix the problem more systematically:

Battle order is entirely based on Initiative score: (Speed + Perception)/2.
Initiative is increased by the Leadership effect (+5 at low levels, +10 at high levels) and the Bold trait (+1), and by equipment bonuses to Initiative.

Initiative appears on the character sheet in the section right below the attributes list, along with Sight, Hearing and Movement.

Your mage's Initiative is probably being boosted by your knight's Leadership. Give your mage a point in Leadership and your knight will also get the benefit. Then if your knight has better speed and perception than your mage, he'll get to attack first.

Hint: a mage with high initiative is a good thing, you can use the blindness on a dangerous opponent (to disable an archer or mage) or accelerate your best warrior from the beginning. This changes everything. Speed is important for a mage, it increases initiative and AP. In my humble opinion Glass Cannon is the mage's best friend smile

agree with zorgi. I have my setup as mage1 ranger2 mage3 fighter4

mages are both glass cannons, so have plenty of ap both to buff/debuff and cast or summon.

mage 1 casts the witch strength buff spell on ranger, slow spell on target, or damage spell

ranger (with bully and guerilla) shoots from stealth on first shot, and uses a special arrow as second shot

mage 3 does same thing for fighter, usually casting an aoe effect on the badies

fighter casts rage, launches attack....

not much survives more than a full turn of that in my experience. hasn't since about level 10.

haha ! smile I really like how you can adjust the difficulty of the game and play the team you like. I play with 3 membres. Warior 2 hands lonewolf with high perception for max critical hit, a high speed mage (connon glass), and madora essentially for the leadership bonus smile I start combat by disabling archer and mage by using warrior/sorcerer spells, damage bonus spell on my warrior, then I cut the world with my axe smile Powerfull.
