Because they're angry.
In this particular case, rk47 is probably angry at what he perceives to be a simplification of modern video games, in order to pander to a least common denominator market.
I'm sticking to the topic.
OP knew the issue.
OP understood the problem.
Yet the conclusion he drew is complete garbage.
Amazing.
Can't you at least wait 3 more levels before exploring that zone if it's too hard? Did someone point a gun to your head saying you MUST do it? Didn't the guard tell you it's dangerous?
Amazing.
What more do gamers want?
Does the OP want Larian to start announcing to people entering a zone in, BIG HUGE font that an area is dangerous?
Holy shit.
I just went pyscho-anal on OP cause he came upon the stupidest conclusion on how to solve the 'difficult' problem: Blame the Game and ask the dev to fix it.
Commenting on your views is probably not a good idea, since it seems that you're the kind of person who will always answer defensively and try to rationalize your rude behavior. But since I'm a person who beliefs that even anonymity doesn't make people develop antisocial tendencies, I'm going to give it one more shot. You seem like a smart guy as well, so I think it's worth it.
I came here because I did
not know the issue. That is why I asked the question and got good and very explanatory answers from most who commented here. I also didn't argue, claiming that this was an unfair world. Instead I wondered for a second if things were as they were supposed to, then completely agreed that I had assumed a carebear-like attitude since most games have gone the route of making things very easy and linear since the rise of World of Warcraft.
And to answer your question, yes I could have waited three more levels. The reason I didn't do so is because at the time I didn't know that doing so would "solve" my issue or enlighten me further about why I felt the way I did. It took some nice and patient players to make me realize that I had, over the years, expected to be guided everywhere and not need to discover anything by "trial and error". The WoW model figured out that, to the casual gamer, any irritation is a possible "quit and leave" moment, so they started the trend of making games become so easy that one would not have to experience that.
The issue people have with you in this thread is that, instead of trying to explain that to me in a nice and enlightening manner, you decided to be rude and show tendencies of superiority, therefore weakening the gaming community instead of strengthening it. Also, if the person you were speaking to would take criticism badly, you would possibly have ruined their day. In my case however, that's not something you have to worry about.
So please try to make gaming a more positive experience to your fellow gamers instead of the alternative.
