taking it zone by zone is how I did it and a less confusing one. Dont remember on Elrath to be honest but you can download the walkthrough by locusinn.
(locusinn.com) It will tell you what, where and when if you get stuck. Refer to it only when you need to. Most quest info requiring you to go to other places will generally be told to you. (some exceptions, like the poisoning quest. You dont know where to go but eventually you come across it.)
