People are different and have different responses to audio. It bugs the OP, it may bug some people, it's unlikely to be a general thing or we would have read more about it before now. You don't know how much it may irritate the OP, but if he is muting the game because of it, it's probably quite a lot. Not very helpful to ask him to ignore it. I, for example, hate the sound of ice being scratched. Some people hate the sound of chalk on a board.
That's why a mod would seem the best course of action, if people know how to/are able to alter the UI sound.
You get it! Thanks

Yeah it's just one of those things that bothers me. I can't explain why. I just wish UI sounds weren't tied into game effects sounds. Because I want to be able to hear the sounds of combat, my character's footsteps and things like that. I suppose for now I can view this as sort of a test of mental willpower - can I overcome this annoyance? Perhaps I can even transcend to a state of being where I don't even hear it. The key is not to focus on not focusing on this sound. Because by focusing on not doing something, you are in fact still putting effort into focusing on that thing, whether or not your disposition toward that stimuli is negative or positive.
Still, a mod would be really cool
