I'm a kickstarter and I've download the game fine in Steam. However, when I hit "Play" I see the Steam dialog box "Preparing to launch Divinity", the screen goes black for a moment and then I get a "Divinity Original Sin has stopped working" dialog box. Any thoughts?

Try disabling Antivirus and/or Firewall you use - it helped a few players who couldn't start D:OS.

If this does not help, try starting the application directly from the installation folder (not from Steam client). It is names something like "EoCapp.exe"

What are your computer specs?

Edit:

The following is a list of suggestions which Raze usually posts:

"Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?

Try starting the game directly from the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\Shipping\EoCApp.exe' program file. Perhaps right click and run as administrator.

Did you try verifying local files? In the Steam library, right click on Divinity Original Sin and select Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and then click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache...' button.

Did you check for driver updates, etc?

If you start dxdiag (click Start or WinKey-R, type in dxdiag and hit Enter), does your sound device show up with the name and drivers?

Uninstalling AMD Gaming evolved (raptr) software has fixed startup crashing for some people.

Check if the support packages for the game are installed correctly (in ..\steamapps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\_CommonRedist).

Please email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool (for the PC version). The report will contain system and game information, and any crash dumps (and would include saved games, if you were able to get that far)."
