Are you hosting the game? Only the host can save.
Were you able to save earlier and it stopped working at some point, or had you not tried that session?
In the Save Game window, if you click on New Save, does a dialogue windo open up allowing you to enter a name, then either hit Enter or the Ok button?
If the person who joined leaves, does that get saving working again?
