Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity Original Sin - Help/Tips/Tricks stuck unlocking portals in homestead

This is my second playthrough, so I know how it's supposed to go, but I'm stuck unable to unlock the 4th elemental portal in the homestead. Fire, Water & Earth are active, and Air is still inactive.

Zixzax is standing by the elemental statue, but I can't engage in dialog with him (He just says to go to the next chamber, or enter the next portal). The elemental statue itself is not interactable either.

This happened when I grabbed the 2 bloodstones in the Silverglen Immaculate temple basement. I used both to turn them into inert stones then picked up the inert stones and teleported to the homestead where I haven't been able to get anything else in the homestead to unlock. I have found at least one more inert stone since (the one in Maradino's Secret Lair) and still no change.

Anyone have any ideas?

Just something I read. Not sure if it helps you...

Try using one stone a time and then teleport to Homestead. Using many stones after each other without going to Homestead has caused some people trouble. It seems that Homestead does not handle stacked up room unlocks very well.

Try mouse around the statue, maybe desk or vases, somewhere should allow you to click on.
The statue should address you automatically when you approach, but one time it didn't, I had to click to initiate dialog.

Try killing Zixzax and then try again after he respawns.

Unfortunately, even my oldest autosave is from after I activated the 2 bloodstones at once, so I can't go back and un-do using 2 of them without going to the homestead in-between.

I tried killing Zixzax, the fight was pretty close since I'm only level 14, but I killed him. After he resurrected I can talk to him again, but I went through all dialog options and left the homestead and returned and the 4th elemental portal is still inactive, the elemental statue won't talk to me and I can't interact with it.

I moused over the elemental statue in pretty close detail, no interact options, even with free rotation on.

Another thought. What if Zixzax is waiting at the last room you have unlocked? Maybe you need to go through another portal first. Have you tried all active portals? Do any of them lead you to a new room, or have you already visited them?

He's waiting right by the elemental statue, like he did the 3 times before when the other elemental portals unlocked.

I have entered and exited every active portal in the homestead, both exiting via the portal in the room, and exiting by using the pyramid-teleport.


I guess I'll see if killing him made any difference when I get the next inert stone, but I believe I have enough to unlock all the rooms already.

mmm...this must be a glitch, if Zixzax stands by the statue, it means that you're ready to unlock one of the elemental portals.
