Hello, I am part of a modding community that mods Final Fantasy Tactics (FFH) and a big Diablo fan. The guy who's making a Diablo Mod of this game caught my interest. Looks like some people have been doing some sick work and BIG UPS to Larian for their amazing game and graciousness to offer Modding capabilities. I've done a little bit of searching but my time has been really tight lately frown So I was hoping I could ask these questions:

1. Does there exist any way to make monsters respawnable? Or have a random chance to spawn over some interval or after some event?

2. Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts for the Divinity Engine editor? If not, how the heck do you scroll (not zoom) up and down? >_>

3. Is it possible to introduce custom code to the original game code?

4. What different tools are there or what is mainly used? I've seen a savegame editor, the divinity engine, LStools, spreadsheets, and text files all mentioned.

Edit: 5. What files would I have to back up before I start messing with the Main Story in the divinity engine so I don't break it?

Hi Chotokukyan,

I don't have answers to all your questions but I can help you on your second.

There is a list of keyboard shortcuts which you may find under Options -> Preferences. Alternatively, you can access this menu with Ctrl+P. You can use this menu to change the keyboard shortcuts if you do not like the default settings.

The other menu items under your Options menu is related to your layout, which you may also be interested in checking out at a later time. Once you have had time to experiment and have found a layout you prefer, you can save it. Then the next time you fire up the toolset, it will remember that layout. It has saved me tons of time. smile

As to the second part of your question, in order to move around maps with the default settings, you can use both your mouse and keyboard. You can hold down the middle mouse button and move it around to pan your view. Scrolling the mouse wheel button zoons in and out. Pressing the left, right, up, and down arrow buttons will scroll left and right, forward, and backward.

Something that confused me at first (and I think you too) is that by default, you look down into the maps at an angle, so moving forward and backward looks like you are zooming in and out. You really are not. You are moving forward and backward along your line of view, which annoyingly can make you go past the map or go so far out you can't see anything pertinent.

If you set your line of view parallel to the plane of the map, you will find moving back and forth much easier. However, it may make viewing things you have placed (up close at least) very difficult. I myself have gotten into the habit of just panning my view into a 90 degree angle of the position I want to go, and solely moving left and right. This way I can keep my camera looking down and not having to worry about the angle when I move.

Thanks for the help. I think it's a matter of the editor not recognizing my middle mouse button or something. I tried using the pan button to change the view angle, but no luck.

I also conveniently ran into Rhidian's thread on respawning monsters and the tutorial on making a main-dependant mod. I'll have to do some reading.
