I didn't realize the significance of the circle of mushrooms outside the cave until too late. I now have Leandra's spell, but it doesn't work without the mushrooms. Am I screwed? Or is there another way?

yes, I did. As I said, oops.

no option to put mushrooms back? then, forget it, it's just a "side quest"...

No need for the mushrooms itself as long as you recognize the circle. The troll king cave needs the spell from Madhorino, nothing else. Just go into the middle of the circle and use the spell. Worked for me althoug I had picked the mushrooms bar a few left as markers.

my memory is fuzzy; this being the case, just read the spell inside the circle. has OP tried it?

When I tried it, the response was something like "it doesn't work"

Happened to me as well. Try a different position inside the circle. I needed 4 attempts on the first run before it worked.

I'm getting really tire of "It doesn't seem to be working, what did I do wrong?" ... (sigh)

Can anyone provide a more detailed suggestion on where to be positioned?

Need help please!!! I think I sold the "secret files" to a vendor, no idea which one or even where - what can I do to get a copy of it?

Nothing except an older save game.

I was hoping there was some kind of "add item" fix - had to use one of those in Dragon Age: Origins to replace werewolf pelts *sigh*

It is a total side quest with nothing to gain than a bit of experience and some items resp. money. No real loss.
