Do you have a recent save before breaking the skeleton?
As long as you can talk to someone you should be able to boost their opinion of your character by giving them stuff (through the trade window). There is an exploit to duplicate stackable items which you can use to speed up the process, if you haven't collected a bunch of loot already (there are lots of high value axes in the catacombs, and other equipment, with probably more than enough miscellaneous low value items to build up a potion supply, etc). If you drop all your gold but 2 pieces, you can trade with Otho, get his opinion up for free and end up with 2 gold (or more, or zero, if you want to make a token payment).
To duplicate stackable items, drag a stack out of (or into) your inventory (or container) and hold down the control key before dropping. This will bring up the split stack pane; type in a negative number and hit enter (the checkmark will be greyed out). This can also be done in the trade window.
