Well last time I did it I ran, but the dog and woman died. The zombie followed me to some soldiers which it also killed. Honestly I was beginning to fear it was going to wipe out half the town but some more soldiers came in and together we killed.
At that point, not knowing any better I would have never touched a grave again, but of course several quests ... including the main quest, requires it.
I take it from what you are saying though that this is still a problem after the last patch?
