Hello everybody. Right now we are all tinkering with our levels and we also know that the editor has started its long jurney with many great mods ahead. BUT we could state some things that we will need in near future. Terrain merge is one of this things. Well, someone might say, that is it possible to create a map big enough to fit all our needs. There are situations that cannot be predicted. I don't know if adding terrain merge option to the editor it's difficult, but if it's not, it would be great to see it in upcoming updates. There are some persistent issues like terrain painting. Maby "this" new option could added while terrain is being fixed?

I assume by terrain merge, you mean placing a new terrain and making it seamlessly transition from another terrain. Right now, this is possible to do by hand, but really tedious. Still, it's hard to imagine how a "merge tool" would work. Would it extend the slopes and terrain at the edges by a certain amount? Just don't know how useful it would actually be unless they just did a stellar job with it. But I think I'd rather Larian spend their time doing other things.

In UDK there is a merge terrain tool in the terrain editor. There are two conditions to be met in order to make it work: terrains edges and their height must be lined up. If everything is done correct, then a line will appear between two terrains, then you use a defined shortcut and that is all. If lets say you are sculpting a terrain and everything looks fine but after some time you decide that more terrain has to be added, then later on painting this (whole but divided into pieces) terrain will be a pain in the arse. You said that this is possible to do by hand. How can I do that? Sooner or later people will start talking about this option.

I understand better of what you're asking for. For two terrains to actually become one terrain, yes? I mean, you can transition two terrains seamlessly into one another, but it's a lot of work. I haven't done it myself, so I can't say exactly how, but I know Mipsy has, and it took a while. If the two terrains are perfectly aligned, terrain and AI grid transition seamlessly. I guess requiring the same height (which could easily be accomplished by using the clamp tool) would be relatively easy for making a merge. Would be a nice feature. Any new features would be nice...
