Alright, my issue is regarding the pretty poor performance I seem to be getting with this game. It's really irritating and makes the game next to unplayable for me with how slowly things end up moving after just playing for 30 minutes. I start at 60 FPS and then it goes all the way down to 18 FPS in the matter of 20 - 30 minutes every time. It's honestly game breaking for me, I can't handle playing this kind of game in that frame rate, especially during fights. I'm wondering mostly if it's an issue with my configuration or optimization on the dev's end because I can pull 60+ FPS in most new (drastically more intensive) games.
I've definitely seen a lot of topics regarding this problem but they're all with notebooks and relatively older hardware that isn't too surprising, but I've got a relatively powerful rig to the point where there aren't a lot of games I can't play at 60FPS+ smoothly for hours on end. I've also never seen this sort of issue where the game can go for half an hour before hitting unplayable frame rates
Setup: CPU: AMD FX-6300 @ 3.5ghz GPU: Gigabyte GTX 660 Ti RAM: 8 Gigs @ 1886Mhz (O.C.)

It seems to be very common problem. Unfortunately Larian is doing nothing or is unable to repair it. The problem is about that after some time the game puts pressure on only one core of CPU, and therefore even with high end graphic card one will get very poor FPS. If you save game then FPS seems to go back to normal but still it is too much CPU dependent and use only one core and that`s why often drops below 60FPS regardless of graphical settings.

I have this too..I thought it was fixed in the latest patch but it was a placebo and "wanting" it to be fixed..
I think the dev's possibly don't know how to fix this..
It is truly maddening and I refuse to play it or any future games if this engine is the platform if this can't be fixed...
The support is okay with Larian as far as comm, but I think they are somehow trading off Quicksaves as an alternative fix to the unfixable mem leaks...hope I'm wrong
Things to improve a little on Med textures, less herky jerky but still slows down over time...
On a 680 SLI setup, this should NOT be happening

Maybe something is wrong with ours rigs? However I installed new system (W8.1), have all latest drivers and other games run with no issues... Then how come that only few people report this problem? Maybe others don`t see difference between 70 and 40 FPS?

I thought it was something like that but I honestly can't see that being the case. I've played and beaten at least 50+ games on my computer with the exact current setup that I have, ranging from brand new to incredibly old. The pure idea that our setups could be a problem for one specific (not even very demanding, as show by the fact that changing from Very Low to Ultra is a matter of 5 - 10 FPS) game is preposterous! I've seen some people complaining about the game eventually becoming very dependant on a single core on the CPU which is silly especially since it gets fixed after saving...
Whatever it is, since the problem is able to be temporarily managed after doing something in game, it's an issue within the game itself, not our systems.
You guys could post your specs and we could compare to see if it's a general issue with our brands or parts, but I really think it's something on their end.

I've noticed today the same problem. I was playing for around 20 min I guess, and then I started noticing framerate drops when I was in the first city. I thought that maybe it was because there are many elements on screen, but when I saved the game, everything was back to normal with smooth framerate. Also I disabled the texture streaming because, even if the patches should have fixed the stuttering problem, I still have it (probably less than before the patches, but it's still there). I don't know if this can cause the framerate problem.
My config is: - i5-2500 3.30 Ghz - Radeon HD 6950 2 GB - 8 GB RAM DDR3

I have the same problem and quick saving the game temporaly solves de problem, but its really annoying to have to quick save every 5 minutes, please try to fix it.

Interesting, I'm running 177 with an HD 7850 2GB @1920x1200, full screen, all gpu options on high/ultra (max) with the exceptions of DoF which is OFF, Bloom which is OFF, & motion blur which is also OFF. 16x AF set in-game; 1x smaa set in-game. I've never seen the problem alluded to in this thread, with save games or otherwise. FX-6300 cpu, btw. Win8.1x64, 8GB ram.
I have even noticed that the slight but constant hitching I was getting with texture streaming turned ON (which prompted me to turn it off) is now *gone* with Texture Streaming turned ON, starting in 169 and extending through 177. That means either the multicore scheduling issues have been fixed; or else texture streaming has been disabled within the game...;) My guess is that the streaming has been fixed--but I could certainly be wrong.
Want to suggest that nobody should be running any 3rd-party gpu applications like Afterburner/Radeon Pro with this game, and that all driver control panel settings be set to "Application Controlled." I noticed that although I thought everything was fine with Radeon Pro running behind the game--it actually wasn't. Also, with 3rd-party image-quality applications running behind the game it's entirely possible they could be eating up gpu resources attempting to enforce driver-forced modes of FSAA and other things (Supersampling) that won't actually function properly with the game engine--and could be sucking up performance overhead while producing no or very, very slight image-quality improvements. I found shutting down all such programs was best for my system when running this game--and of course not trying to force IQ modes through the driver control panel.
I'm never wrong about anything, and so if you see an error in any of my posts you will know immediately that I did not write it...;)
