Could someone explain to me what the "Pavilion of Death" is for?
It has to have something to do with a quest, or at least with some kind of reward...

It's in Luculla Forest, and all it does is asking you if you wish to die. If you answer yes, some fireballs start falling from the sky until you move away. Apparently that's all.

I've been stuck here for a few hours trying to find out what it does...
there has to be a reason for its existence!

Look for a button on the rock halfway up to the pavilion. It is only detectable while the trap is active.

You shouldn't! I had to get a hint too in order to find that button. It is not exactly trivial...

I'll have to try this, didn't notice a button in an early play threw and just "skipped" the place now.

I tried both Slow and Fast death by abusing saves, the slow death has been giving me 3 items every time, 1 or 2 unidentified (lvl2) and one other item, painting, pearl, arrow etc...

Fast death has been giving me 1 or 2 unidentified or 1 unidentified and 1 other (usually a pearl).

My lucky chance is 4, not sure if this effects it.
