Ok, my idea did not work but I managed to complete the quest anyhow.
Here is what I did:
I ported the guy twice, which killed him out of sight of the guards. The guards now keep on saying how good the show is but they don't keep me from talking to the head (which they did when I ported the guy out of sight without killing him).
So, I could complete the quest normally. Just the guy who ran the show is dead. Since I think he is not important for any other quest, I'm ok with this.
