Itエs more than worth the spent points. You ony need to spend 3 points in each category as 2 BS and CR are available via bracers and belts, 1 each with the scientist talent.
BS is a bit more questionable than crafting, but I can not even imagine playing without crafting. Just some of the major advantages:
- Apply rubies to gear for a boost (depends on level of gear) for all of the elementals at once
- Craft your own spellbooks from scrolls, empty scrolls or/and paper or/and blank books
- Craft weapons for the time frame where nothing found is suitable (happens)
- Craft weapons from ore to sell (especially early on, later you are swimming in gold)
- Craft large healing potions from small ones
- Craft belts or amulets for specific purposes like +constitution belts for glass cannon talents (nowhere to be found)
- Make footwear immune to slippery (quite important btw)
- Enhance leather helmets with e.g. leadership
- Enhance bows with sextants (plus perception), tormented soul (plus strength and dexterity), essences (plus elemental damage) and bowstrings (plus base damage)
And so on and so forth. On average crafting boosts ever party members efficiency ba more than 33% easily.
Not that is strictly necessary. You may win the game with complete hybrids, no perception, no skill points in anything but fighting. It is a bit on the easy side regarding fights.
