You can just record the sound yourself. No hacking needed.
Follow this guide (this is for Win 7):
http://awesometoast.com/recording-what-you-hear-in-windows-7/The play the game so you hear the sound and the edit the audio file afterwards to contain only audio snippet you need. It can be done with all free tools.
(note I tried this years back but didn't try this specific guide.)
