I know the other 3 companions have their own side quest but I cant find anything for Wolgraff?

Are there any places that will trigger conversations if there isn't a quest for him?

when/where is it activated?

Somewhere in the third map of the campaign.

You can get it started by talking to the Cowering Rabbit you meet close to the 'Cyseal-Silverglen Road' Portal (in the Cyseal map). There are several other dumb animals you can find a talk to to be guided towards the source of the problem. For details see page 230-231 in my walkthrough that you can find here:
