OK, thanks a gazillion times. You did a titanic work reinstalling the game just for me and replying so fast, I think you are one in a million on game forums. This was actually for my girlfriend who had the quest, but lost the letter. She said she will build a temple for you ^_^. Greets from Romania

Hello! I've got a problem trying to get Dragon Shield from Stormfist Castle. Didn't get it the first time, but managed to get back into the castle running past the guards. The problem is there's no key to the storage room anywhere. I probably picked it up the previous time and lost it somewhere. Got two other bronze keys in my inventory, but when I try to open the door - they don't work. So if you can post the shield item here - it would be much appreciated

Did you check the room just north of the armoury? ( map) Hit the Alt key... I can get the inventory files with the shield, but it would probably be better to get the key. I'm heading out shortly but will get the files and edit this post later today. Alternately, you can bypass the door: Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor. Welcome to the forum.

Tyvm! I checked the room north like ten times, threw all the items around and the key just wasn't there. I suppose I picked it up the first time I was in the castle, but opened something else with it if it's even possible. Cause I definately didn't throw away any keys. But it doesn't matter anymore, cause Hex teleporting worked like a charm. So thank you very much again!

There are two duplicate locks in the game, that I know of (and the armoury door isn't one of them). The key you are given to Nericon's Garden by Blake can also open the castle graveyard (which would be opened anyway after going to the castle and preceding with the main plot quest for awhile). There is another key that can open either lock in a back room of Walker's house (the alchemist in Ars Magicana), though it is a little tricky getting in there without upsetting him.

Well then, maybe I ran into some bug, or was just careless and lost the key. Good to know it's not a game breaker though, thanks to your help

Actually, the letter to Gregor is already included in the Dwarven Mine items set of inventory files. I gave the map to the location in the post you quoted because that person had simply not gotten the letter in the first place. I think if you talk to the dwarven council member first he takes the letter, before you can present it to the king. Some people had the guards take the axe or letter, but could toss those items into the room before entering, and pick them up afterwards (or kill the guards and just walk in... Poison Cloud cast near but not on an NPC can do damage without triggering retaliation, and without a reputation drop. Essential NPCs should be protected from death. Welcome to the forum.

Hi, Raze. Can you provide the file for Maradino's Secret Notes?
I can't find it anywhere. I do not desteroy or sell such items, but I can't find it anywhere, neither in Homestead nor at any shopkeeper around. I also don't have an old savegame to use the inventory trick.
Thanks in advance.

This procedure only works for Divine Divinity. The save format is completely different in Original Sin.

Thanks Raze.
Bigger question: should I give up and start over? I'm running into an issue where a couple of major items are plain missing from my game world, including:
Strange Dagger (not in the book) Dragon Belt Key (not on the shelf) Dragon Belt (not in the chest) Cutlass of Totu Chabahl (not in Thieves Guild treasure room)
I can replace them using the inventory trick, but I'm wondering if something got corrupted that is going to result in me constantly working around missing items.
Have you seen this issue before?
Thanks!

Did you try the inventory file swap before, and not restore the original files?
It is possible a corrupt file in the dynamic folder could have carried over the status of some items from a previous game. If that is the case, depending on how far you got your last game, it may be safer to start over. Before doing so, first delete all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Dynamic' folder, as a precaution. This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity.

Thanks Raze. Tried emptying the dynamic folder but still didn't work.
Hmm, I have a guess as to what happened and all my fault.
I misplaced the exploding keg earlier, and used the trick where I dropped all of my items on the ground, copied the inv files from a save with just the keg, and then picked up all my items. I didn't know about the better method which you suggested I use for the strange dagger.
This means I had a save that had already visited Verdistis, but then overwrote the inv files from a save that had never visited there. My guess is this is causing key items to not appear not in Verdistis.
I deleted older saves, so I think I'll start over and be extra careful not to lose key items!
If only I could bring my awesome dagger with me (I tried bringing it into a new game and no dice...)
Thanks for the help

For Divinity: Original Sin you could try the Save Game Editor. I didn't see that amulet listed in a quick check, but may have just missed it. If it is possible to sell the amulet, the NPC should still have it, so you can check the traders you usually deal with. If that doesn't help, email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool (for the PC version). The report will contain system and game information, as well as your saved games. To reduce the file size, all but your latest save can be deleted from the zip.

Hello, forum! Did everything as suggested in the discription and even tried both of *.zip files related to Ben's quest (about bringing him ale), but unfortunately to no avail. He just does not accept the items from those saves or any other booze I bring him. I know I can just ignore that quest, but I am a completionist and it is strongly against my nature. Especially since I failed the escort quest. So, please, help me.
Update: The quest is done! So, how and why? As to why, I have no slightest idea, probably a bug. As to how: I searched all the castle for suitable drink, then SOLD (actually gave avay) it to Ben, then bought it all back and voila! Ben suddenly accepted it! Unfortunately, I can not tell exactly which bottle he was pleased with, because after quitting the dialog with Ben ALL of booze disappeared from inventory, but hey, that is not a problem =) If you had such problem here is a little solution, no fiddling with save files needed!
P.S. But thanks for the help, anyway, Raze.
