Hi there!
I've tried to google some information about formulas of calculating melee hit chances and found out that there's no info.

I've started a new game with solo mod (Journey of the Lone Wolf). No glass cannon, hard difficulty, Source Difficulty mod. No restealth, but I use backstabs. Every fight is interesting cause I have to put alot of cc on enemies to prevent them freezing or stunning me and to avoid damage. I use full list of debuffing spells that I didnt use in previous games (when I got a tank) like curse, slow etc.
Now I got a lvl 6 rogue with some magic abilities (for cc, debuffs and buffs, no direct damage).
Stats: base: 5/15/9/5/7/5 with gear: 5/18/10/7/9/5
Attack rating 154, Defence rating 89

The problem is that even with 18 dex I get hit most of times in melee and by archers. In most turn-based RPGs like Neverwinter Nights when I maxed stats like dex I could evade many hits.
Is there a way to max dodge other than by putting more and more points in dex? What is the required defence rating for 50%/60%/70% dodging against most of enemies?
How much the chances change when there's a lvl difference between my character and enemies?

The best answer would be the calculation formula for attack/dodge chance, but every tip is welcomed ;)

Your Defence Rating is 4 times the character level plus 5 times the Dexterity over the base value of 5 [ DR = 4 CL + 5 (Dex - 5) ].

I don't know exactly how the Defence Rating is used when determining if you evade an attack, though.

It looks to me that attack is 100% dice roll + Attack rate compare to defense rate.

IIRC there is a term based on the level difference between characters, as well.

Yes.
It is visible on the saving throws rolls in the battle log.
Every level diference means +1 to saving throw. Therfore put a +10 level beggar on the knees by your knock down skill is quite difficult. >-]

I think that every dice rolls are made by 100side dice. e.g. percent. so the attack rates are adjusted same way. That means, attacking an enemy who is +2 levels gives them +20 to defense.

Yes all rolls are in % dice. I think that level has a bit more than 10% difference, that and that stats are probably inherently higher than lower level toons.

Oh the combat log yeah, I need to pay more attention to that.

Hey gGeo ( or Raze), is there an option to turn off damage value text in the main screen during a battle...I dont care much about the numbers anymore since I can see the health bar?

Dont know, but would be nice. Flying numbers have chinese mmo smell, dont like that stench.
I would also appreciate to divide all HP related numbers by 5 in the next game. My warrior finally had over 3000HP, its ridiculous.

I am OK with the huge hit points we dont have to do the bloody math thats what a computer is for.

But yes flying numbers remind me of "Crouching moron Hidden JErkwad" movies as well. Just an option to turn them off would be nice if I want to know what the actual value was, thats what a combat log is for, right?

Well the human brain is quite good with counting to 10. Counting to 20 is possible. Counting over 100 is difficult and need training. Bigger numbers less chance to be understand meaning and possible result. Theretofore for better understanding game mechanic is wise to keep numbers low. Or, you have wonky game mechanic so put on a huge numbers, so only few users get noticed flaws. :-]

Check the a mainstream chinese mmo, milions of HP are quite common. Does anyone know how the bonuses and spells works? Nah, smash the keyboard fast as you can, everyone does.
