Okay, so also not getting why it isnt "doing it for you", you can go top down tactical view and/or spin but I rarely spin and only top down when something isnt visible in standard isometric view. This isnt an FPS so being zoomed in is not a great idea, in fact I would say its a terrible way to play the game you will miss a heck of a lot of things or spend far more time finding them than needed.
Actually the camera on this is excellant, for comparison look at Icewind Dale, Baldurs Gate, Fallout ( 1 and 2 and Tactics- not that abortion Fallout 3) or Temple of Elemental Evil, all good enough for the engine and time, but I find D:OS to be better.
