I bought D:OS when it first came out, loved it up until I got around 2/3 into the campaign, where combat was far too easy (on hard) that it became boring. So I put the game on hold.
Has anyone heard any news regarding a patch to add a higher difficulty level? I know there is a mod but I'm a bit hesitant to try a mod, I'm concerned it will screw up my save game or have other unintended consequences.

There is a harder difficulty mode being added, but since it will involve changes to opponents (composition and AI) it isn't likely going to be compatible with existing saves. There are also new skills being added, like dual wielding, and a few other things. See this kickstarter update video and blog post. There has been no ETA, other than "some months" (as of mid March).

So looking forward to this update. I don't even care if I have to start over.

Thanks for the info! Well, my memory is rather bad, so I don't mind restarted the story (as I probably would have forgotten quite a lot of it!) I hope the new difficulty level really ramps up the difficulty. I like extremely challenging battles ;-)

I hope Larian will improve the Enemy AI also! Thank you

It all sounds really exciting, I am very enthusiastic as well, and starting over is fine. I will miss being able to use the saved Game editor but it wont stop me from playing, it will be like an old friend with a new face!

I'm also looking forward to it tremendously.
My first playthrough took 120 hours in the first two months of release, and I'll be overjoyed to play again with a friend who hasn't tried the game yet. A new difficulty shaking up my approach to encounters would guarantee that we both have a fresh experience, even after I've already explored every nook and cranny the world has.
