You tell me cause it sounds like you really are getting more damage out of spells, which I am definately not getting more damage from spells than from a Big-damn-well made sword and a really proficient buffed up fighter.

Have you gone the full distance with a well-built fighter, if you think spells do more damage...that just isnt so.

If your cooldown on Death Punch is at 1, it means you have an INT of 26 or more. It's probably more difficult to get a Warrior up to 26 STR, since they have more useful Talents, and can't really trade in as many as a mage can, AND they also have CON and SPD competing for attribute points as well.

... actually wait, that doesn't matter since STR doesn't boost damage, just chance to hit.

Precisely stats dont affect damage directly but actually Perception raises crit chance and I usually get it up to 35% or more.

But Death Punch only hits one target with one attack in one round and for like what 8AP?

With Flurry I get four attacks on one target in one round or I can (and have) hit up to 7 enemies with Whirlwind, with a 35% of double damage which was around 964+ before the crit took effect thats far more than any spell, and I havent even started to include Oath of Desecration, which I was not using until recently.

If you want to count Oath to warriorァs effectivity AP/HP ratio, you need to add AP for Oath.
Flurry - Costs 8 AP, 12 cooldown. You need spen AP to come to the enemy. Compares to DeatPunch ->> 9 AP, 1 cooldown, range 5m, +50% damage

Regarding Wirlwind. There is a Mass Disease for example. It makes a lot more damage and hit bigger area. For 1more AP.

Warriors are just meat shield for mages and scoundrels. If any combat realted skill has worth, then shield. You can make about 70% block chance. Warriors have also nice skill The light - substract 2 from saving throws. No chance to negate. That is powerful precursor for scoundrel's knock and backstab to death.

Even 1500 > 1000 doesnt change your point of view. Stuborn like always. I like people who stays on their terms. :-]

Right, mage's lowering cooldown by int and buffing damage by Int is crazy overpowered.

I agree, but it's too late to go changing for Original Sin. I did make the suggestion that the next games should NOT have that mechanic in it.

Again damage per AP isnt all there is to it and I do not concur ( honestly I dont even need Oath of Desecration I only started using it regularly this last playthrough its way overkill but 2850 points or more is sometimes good, I took down the Guardian in 3 rounds last time, when spells were doing nothing).

eh...

Too many variables to compute and how you play isnt a priority as long as you enjoy it its completely unimportant! But Death Punch isnt doing near the damage that my fighter is doing, you can improve the fighter and weapon but the spell only performs the same way it always does depending on the casters level, also its range sucks, thats a great way to get your squishy mage killed and Death Punch is not available or usuable until level 16, Whirlwind level 7, FLurry Level 10. That said I rely more on the fighter since he can soak damage and still keep killing. I do like the Death Punch spell its one of my favorites in the game actually, and far better than Storm, Hail attack, Meteorstrike and especially Earthquake. But a fighter can swing 3 or 4 times without a skill being in use and do 900+ points per strike to the same or multiple enemies in a round, no contest AP is irrelevant when you are the only thing left standing at the end of the fight.

Irrelevant- since Mass Disease is a status and therefore temporary and causes no permanent damage, also you get a save against it, you do not ever get a save vs weapons.

Divine-Light is the most worthless skill Warriors have except for Terror, I dont even use it, why would I waste any AP when the fighter will have killed the enemy by the time anything else will benefit from his de-buff.

Mages are just Artillery they dont win battles they just soften the enemy up buff the scoundrel and fighter and heal. Mages and Scoundrels have their uses but the fighter kills the most, especially the bosses since they usually have such great resistances vs spells.

I may be incorrect since I have never used it ( why bother when I am already knee-deep in sliced bloody beast chunks?), but the status of diseased- lowers con and body building, the spell description mentions no damage, neither does the wikia. I will try it tonight for giggles, if it does do damage instead of just a debuff then thanks I hadnt tried it since its better to kill than debuff, and if so then I am wrong, and was uninformed as well.

It does damage because when the status wears off, the enemy doesn't get that health back.

LOL

its minor but what bothers me is the inconsistency and unpredictability.

Eh, whatever I still love the game, thats not gonna changem it works in so may ways and on so many levels. I will try Mass Disease tonight to see how much damage it does.

SO I guess by your comment Stabbey, that this came up during Beta and you told them (correctly) what I just re-iterated.

Sorry I know I am always playing catch up, but I didnt know about the game or the kickstarter or any of what went on during Beta, I have been reading your general criticisms Posts and they are interesting, some of those things you called out in Beta were fixed and apparently a lot were not or thats what Larian wanted even though it seeemed it needed improvement.

I didn't say that either. You are jumping to conclusions again. All I said was that enemies don't get their health back, that did not mean that players DO.

I don't think players get their health back either after being diseased, but I don't remember.

Sorry when something lacks specificity I tend to trust instinct.

I am near certain players do because I have been diseased and the effects were NOT permanent, I got the con and vitality back afterwards.

I gotta experiment now, if I can remember who diseased us last time it happened. Now that I am fact-finding, I will never get lucky enough to be diseased again!

Ah, Irony and sarcasm my two favorite flavors.

Keep trying, I will wait for another day.
The solution is predictable and is the same for characters and NPC.
The spell is not bugged. Correctly used is one of the strongest spells.

Really buddy, cause I used it twice and it sucked. Ended up killing every one of em with a sword or an arrow. It did squat. Nada, bupkiss, zilch, zero, nothing. I was expectting something more. That was thouroughly anti-climactic, I was hoping that was bubonic plague-ebola-Marfon spell I was looking for

I will stick with swords and bows thank you very much.

I hadnt tried it at all (yet) since I was at work, but I remember being diseased and it did virtually nothing to me and wore off quickly, so I figured why bother and ya know what? I end just about every fight in 2 rounds or less and usually take no damage or very little and only on the fighter anyway.

But I think we just play differently, stylistically speaking, I use my Mage and Rogue/Ranger to support my Fighter, I think ( and am sure that it works as well) you do the opposite you use your fighter and scoundrel to support your mage.

You could use your hammer to make a new nail stable, then knock down the nail by pliers. It works. :-]

Well ... is it not so that helping each other in a party of 2 or more characters is the "best" way to survive the battles ... ? (what in a name is the "best"? I ask myself)

But not each battle is excact the same,
OR, in other words, you can do the same battle in another way if you wish and also succeed smile !

My mages support & make each other stronger (as a team). One mage can also heal my other mage, ranger or warrior ... My ranger supporting every other character if they need extra help (from a distance with piercing dam or special arrows).
And my warrior can give a helping hand or slash, crush or pierce an enemy that's trying to attack (or attack!) one of my mages ! Etc ...

As a "team" each character can do a good job and as a team they can be much stronger than being apart ! smile

But that's just my opinion & way of playing D:OS wink
(and I'm still searching for other possible ways or make a new plan when one,or more, of my team are frozen/knocked down/stunned/ ....).

Good luck making deadly combo's together ! laugh

On 7th of february 2015 : I start a new adventure in the Divinity world of Original Sin,
it's a Fantastic Freaking Fabulous Funny ... it's my All Time Favorite One !

I wish there is an official DLC Arena.
You have a fixed amount of money for equipment, you can make your perfect build and fight online against people.

You can gather XP so you move up to the higher league.
1st league at 4th level
2nd league at 8th level party
Top league at 20th level of the party

It could be greate to precise game ruleset and skills. Change of a skill is quite easy when everyone can rebuild for free.
It could be greate to rise up a money for Larians to support a bigger game.
