I have two bugs actually, but one of them is much more concerning. I recently had to reinstall Divinity: Original Sin, because my harddrive crashed. My wife and I are playing a multiplayer game, hosted on her computer, so everything should be fine. I reinstalled steam, and I reinstalled the game, and now occasionally, when she loads a save, my weapon, chest piece, and helmet will be sort of grayed out or faded in my inventory, and they will not exist. I cannot use my weapon (I end up just punching), and if I unequip them and then try to re-equip them, they disappear completely. They are not damaged, and if she loads the save again, often they work fine. It's just a matter of luck, but it is concerning, because we don't want to not notice for a while and then lose progress. So if anyone has any idea how to fix this problem, please let me know.
The second bug is that every time I close Divinity: Original Sin from steam. Like every time I quit, it hangs for a bit and I get an error message that the game has stopped working. Which doesn't seem like a big deal, since it ONLY happens when I am quitting already, but it's concerning, because I don't know if it's indicative of a larger problem. I have already tried verifying the integrity of the game cache, and everything is fine there, but the error continues to happen.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

When the first problem occurs, are your stats also reset to 5? This is a known issue, and reloading is the only solution. A couple people have noted that if the host switched to doing something else while waiting for the other player to join, or the other person took awhile, it seemed like this was more likely to happen. One person reported they tried sending a save to the other person to host, and the problem still occurred, but when they switched back it stopped. Based on that someone else said they transferred a save to the person joining and without doing anything else the problem stopped. However, the game doesn't actually do anything with the saves when joining another game, so that appears to just be a coincidence.
For the crash on exit, does it happen if you just start the game and exit on the main menu? What if you start or load a single player game?
Was it your main system drive that crashed, or just one you used for games? If you had to re-install Windows, make sure you update all drivers, etc,
Try re-installing the support packages for the game from the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\_CommonRedist' folder.
Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game? Firewalls have also caused conflicts.
If applicable, disable cloud support either globally (in the client click on the Steam menu and select Settings, and then Cloud) or just for this game (in the library right click Divinity: Original Sin and select Properties, then switch to the Updates tab and check the Steam Cloud section). Next, try browsing to the '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder and renaming the 'Divinity Original Sin' subfolder. This folder contains the saved games, configuration files and a level cache folder. Deleting or renaming it will get the game to recreate it on startup; playing the game from a different Windows user account would effectively do the same thing. After that, start D:OS, create a new profile and see if you can start a new game and exit without crashing. If that doesn't help, you could delete the new My Documents folder and rename the original back. If you don't have any saves, though, the only thing to restore would be any custom settings.

Thanks for the response. With regards to the disappearing equipment: Is it known if saving after the equipment grays out means that there is no way to get it back? Thus far, we have been lucky in that we have always noticed right away and then reloaded to before it happened, but I'm concerned that we are going to not notice for a while, and then save somewhere and be stuck without that equipment. So I am wondering if, say, the equipment disappears (or fades out or whatever) and then we save the game like 10 minutes later, if reloading that save will bring the equipment back or if it will be stuck being gone from there on out?
It was my main system HD that crashed, so I had to reinstall everything on a fresh HD, but I did backup (and restore) my documents folder. I'm pretty sure I have re-updated all my drivers.
With regards to the crashing, I just checked and starting and quitting immediately doesn't cause a crash, nor does starting a single player game and quitting immediately. It may only occur if I've been playing for a while. How do I get the support packages? Do I just delete the folder and then let Steam go ahead and fix it? I do have my anti-virus on "gaming mode" and my firewall is disabled while playing. Thanks for the response!

For the equipment it should just be a problem on the client side, so unless there is some other issue involved in this case, the saves should be fine. I don't know if this can still happen, but in early game versions it was possible if hit with a debuff or after removing equipment with a bonus required to use other equipment, that the equipment slot could be shown as empty when it was just disabled, so equipping something else would add the 'missing' equipment to the inventory. If this happens again, try un-equipping and re-equipping, then equip a branch as a weapon or bucket or carved pumpkin as a helmet, etc, and see if that moves the equipment back to your inventory.
The redistributable support packages each have installers in separate subfolders in the '_CommonRedist' folder.
Did you try saving and reloading the new game before quitting? It may be time based, or it could be loading a later area of the game that is causing the problem (in that case renaming the My Documents D:OS folder and recreating it might help).
