For those still puzzling about skills:
The char screen shows offense, defense, damage, armour = these values are determined by strength, agility... and boni you have due to your equipment not due to your weapon skills.

So, as you see on this screenshot: my equipped axe has 50-100 dam - my damage on the char screen shows something different and these values have not changed due to axe expertise lvl 1 - because the weapon skill has nothing to do with the values on the char screen.

So, how am I to know if a skill works or not? Just by killing and watching the hit pts your enemy loses (or you ), taking the average damage from there and comparing this average value with your different skill lvls. This procedure shows only comparable results if weapon and monsters stay the same and only the skill lvl changes. It is more complicated with a magical weapon, that's why normal weapons should be used for this test.

Did I know this before? No, but it was explained to me in a very patient manner by Barnie (Dank dir ) over and over again. Hope, this will help others, too

I've asked Barnabus if he can give me a formula to explain this a bit more clearer - you know: X + Y - w = result, something like that... he replied this would take some time, but he's willing to try it.
