Dragon Flight! It is possible!

Last night I created a post here, but realized it was most likely the wrong area to throw this suggestion. Hence the creation of this thread. It should not be a "tier" reward but more of a main mechanic of the sequel. If it isn't, the game just won't run right with it as just a bonus last minute feature.

Dragon from Divinity: Sword of Lies. While on a 2D plane, it is quite possible for them to be animated to appear to be above ground.

Right now D:OS has 2 types of maps. The "overworld" map with towns and forests and the "dungeon" maps with the caves and...dungeons. In D:OS2 (please come up with a better title!) there can be the added "Sky-map".

This map would be where 95% of your Dragon abilities will come in handy. Plot: Teleporters were heavily used by our heros in the first adventure. Now the adversary has also been using them to start easily transporting large armies. Thus the wizarding community had to go and lock them down, similar to how they were being (or not) used in Divinity: Sword of Lies. NOTE: you will be able to activate them the same way you did in Divinity: Sword of Lies (a.k.a. Divine Divinity).

All that walking would be murder, thus our heros will "somehow" obtain youthful dragons to transport them vast distances. When called upon, the dragons would land on the "overworld map" and then fly our heros up to the "sky map" which you can exit over what will appear to be a town or clearing below.

On the sky map you'd encounter other dragons/drakes and dragon/drake riders to fight. You'd also see a zoomed out world below to allow vast travel and allow you us to reach further corners of the world (such as Verdistis) without the need to creating a ton of "overworld" map for us to explore just to walk to Verdistis. Take a moment to imagine a dragon fight in a thunder storm.

It would also be cool to have a Dragon Tower like in DKS where you can get NPC's to do mundane tasks such as sharpening your weapons and even bartering them for you. This was taking up a lot more of my time then I desired in D:OS. You won't be a Dragon Knight, BUT that might just be where you find the dragons to ride when the residing dragon riders are.

Possible Plot: Infiltrating the tower to assassinate the dragon riders who have been pillaging and causing chaos in the region. After their defeat, the 2 dragons accept you as new owners. Each dragon can have two riders. 4 dragons might become too cumbersome on the "sky map" battles.

Of course, the teleporters will still exist. But now like Divinity: Sword of Lies, we will have to obtain an activation scroll to use them.

I would hope this can accomplish a few things.
1.) Dragons are awesome to ride around in, even in 2D format. They were also being ridden by dragon riders in Divinity: Sword of Lies.
2.) Able to venture to further corners of the world, without the need to create TONS of overworld map. Think of how we see the world in the modern day, but take airplanes to the distant cities instead of just walking there.
3.) Keeping with DKS, dragon battle would not happen on the ground. Our dragons would be youthful and not great combatants when faced by ground troops.

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?
