It is the (32 bit) 2008 VC redistributables that the game uses (as well as DotNet 3.5 and DiretcX 9c, in the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\_CommonRedist' folder).
The
D:OS Analysis Tool (for the PC version) will do a quick check for the minimum requirements, and if you create a report, will collect system and game information (and would include your saved games, if there were any). You can email this to supportdos@larian.com, with a brief description, though it may not be useful in this case (verifying files didn't help, you meet the requirements and, if you went through the other suggestions above, updated drivers, etc).
