Just a small suggestion, don't know how possible it is.
The miscellaneous inventory gets very cluttered, overlapping stuff, would be nice to have a little button that just tidies it up so you can see everything properly.
Just my 2p worth.

Yeah, great idea! I am scared to look in that general section of my inventory. There is so much junk in it!
And I have one little idea also. Let, it be that all those keys that have found their doors/chests dissapear. I have lots of keys and have no idea which do I need and which don't.

I totally agree that there needs to be a way to make the inventory alot "neater" looking. The fact that items can be stacked on top of each others picture can drive you nuts at times.

i can remember a game that sorted the inventory items... i can't remember what it was. might have been throne of darkness.. but i can't remember for sure. Arcanum, Dungeon Siege and many more - auto-sort is popular

i can remember a game that sorted the inventory items... i can't remember what it was. might have been throne of darkness.. but i can't remember for sure. It should be Dungeon Siege. That game had a few good ideas which made adventuring much easier. For example, this tidy inventory button and auto-pick up the loot button. Not to mention the donkeys.

On the note of the keys, how about a keychain too, and most definately get rid of used keys/quest items. I love the tidy button. Dungeon Siege has a tidy button, of course I always run into inventory space problems when the items are assigned blocks (ie. axes are 2x3, bows 2x8, potions 1, etc.). I also like the Dungeon Seige idea of a pack mule though. It's nice when you are encumbered to quickly put those heavy items that are worth big bucks on someone else's shoulders.

auto-arrange is a must!!! at least be able to expand the window of your inventory so that stuff isnt overlaping. and since we are talking about cool stuff in DS, i hate that there is no auto-attack in DD. when sum monster comes up and starts attacking me, my character is just standing there getting beat up while im looking for a spell to use. why wouldnt he automaticaly defend himself? i guess the pause button works well in this situation but that just seems like cheating. its cheesy.

Yea autoarrange would be cool, but no blocks please. I like the idea of placing stuff anywhere i like and especiually like the idea of opening a chest with that real special sword lying "below" or "behind" that big piece of meat..just makes opening chests more interesting (even though i've not actually encountered such an obvious case of the special item hidden in that way yet).
Actually i'd probably like to have my own custom tabs more. Currently there is like 4? For Armor,Weapons,Potions and Misc i think, so now if you could just add your own tabs up there and name them "keys", "books", "quest items" and so on that will already maybe help alot. This will obviously mean you won't need a keyring feature, although that'll do too. But i would like more description for the keys. I played a thief who basically picked most locks and in the end had loads and loads of keys and i could never tell which i can dump or not. So maybe just "key found in iona's dungeon" and "key found in stormfist castle" kind of labels.

I think keys should be removed from the inventory screen all together. They just get in the way. You pick up a key and you keep it forever (or as long and the game lets you). And like diabolus said, have a screen that lists which ones you've found and what they unlock (if known). Deus Ex used this feature well. There was one item called a Nano-Key (I think) which you programmed with key shapes that you found. The Nano-Key remembered which lock required which key. It just made things easier.

B'uddy 'el! I was comparing the inventories, not the game.
Key ring: good. Loose keys: bad.

Don't see that often in games. But it should be standard. In fact, everything..let me make another thread...
