The problem with the funny bits is that they create a contextual dissonance that isn't set up in any way and it feels jarring and breaks the fourth wall. They need better pacing to be able to do actually do something with the comedy, how they are now just creates these islands of nonsense that don't gel well with anything in particular. It's kind of like "random" humour, but even worse.


It somehow reminds me of some Korean movies like the Host or Snowpiercer. Or even Joint security area, or really a lot of asian movies. Moment of humor out of the deep wide blue, during an otherwise very serious scene. Kinda creates a strange mood, tones down the overseriousness of the movie a little.
To be honest the islands of nonsense are what made me like Larian - like that bounty hunter party that ambush you ( can't remember their name right now... shame on me ). That kind of nonsense, unannouced and sudden, is a part of the charm or Larian writings.
