It somehow reminds me of some Korean movies like the Host or Snowpiercer. Or even Joint security area, or really a lot of asian movies. Moment of humor out of the deep wide blue, during an otherwise very serious scene. Kinda creates a strange mood, tones down the overseriousness of the movie a little.
To be honest the islands of nonsense are what made me like Larian - like that bounty hunter party that ambush you ( can't remember their name right now... shame on me ). That kind of nonsense, unannouced and sudden, is a part of the charm or Larian writings.


They create these mood whiplashes that are very bad for immersion. The problem is that they don't go anywhere and are left hanging, that's why I said they are islands. It breaks any suspension of disbelief right away. Any poorly done mood whiplash does jar you out of a story. It's forced and unreal (a breach in Tolkien's concept of secondary belief). Larian's go even further, by just doing this for a moment and then dropping the whole thing to focus on Fate Weavers and End of Time prophecies before doing it again. It's like they are saying "you didn't forget this is make-believe, right?". Thank you, Larian, I had almost forgotten...
