I just checked out the Xbox store on my xbox 1. $89 in Australia for Divinity Original Sin. Wasteland 2 is only $52. I purchased the original game on PC but decided to hold off on completion and return to console. I never expected it to be over twice the price of the game on steam!

Why???

Isn't $90-100 pretty standard for a new console game release in Australia?

I don't know why Wastelands 2 is cheaper, or much of the details of what was changed in the Director's Cut, aside from what is listed on wikipedia. For a rough comparison, though, Wastelands 2 added 8000 lines of voice acting, while the EE added 88,000. Wikipedia mentioned redesigned encounters, but no details; for the EE, all encounters were adjusted and the tactical mode has redesigned combat (including changes to enemy placement, composition and AI). The EE also has a rewritten ending, and additions and changes to quests and dialogue throughout the game.

Got the same thing here in New Zealand. Wasteland is only $50 and Divinity is $100. But doesn't matter, i'm still buying it anyway. Going to be awesome!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the price. Its a new game to the console and has just as much if not more content then many games in that price range.

Yeah, I'm not complaining. Most new release console games here cost $120-$130 so it's still cheaper. Plus the fact that I loved the standard version, and i can pretty much guarantee this is going to be so much better.

Wasteland 2 is releasing at the same price it released on the PC (at least in the US). That is why there is a price difference. Larian seems to be including a console tax for some reason.

You mean some reason like the cost of manufacturing, shipping, licensing, etc, and having a portion of the proceeds going to the publisher and retail or online distributors?

Seriously why the heck do we keep comparing this game and its price to Wasteland 2 the game was terrible and looks like dog excrement compared to Divinity. Seriously wanna go cheap then buy cheap (Wasteland 2). Yes i played it and its freaking terrible compared to the original version. Divinity beat this game hands down in every single aspect of the genre.

If it is a digital download then things like shipping shouldn't enter into it when comparing online PC to online xbox.

I get some increase depending on vendor. For instance the cost on steam the cost is slightly cheaper then GOG.

And sure there may be a whole lot of new stuff on the EE, but PC users are getting all of that for free, where as console users are not only having to buy it again if they want it on their prefered platform, but they are paying twice the price for that platform. A slight increase is fine but it is a pretty huge jump.

This also creates a dilemma for someone like myself who wants to support D:OS 2 but prefers to play on console. Part of me would love to sponsor D:OS 2 and hopefully if it is successful like the first one it will be converted to console. On the other hand part of me thinks why should I pay to establish the PC version, if I am just going to have to pay considerably more for the xbox version some time down the line?

There is a retail release on console, though, so that does enter into pricing, even for a download version. Licensing for consoles doesn't disappear if it is download rather than retail, either.

The only PC users getting the EE for free are those who already bought the game, without whom the EE wouldn't exist. Anyone else will need to buy the game, at a price that hasn't been announced, so may or may not be the same as D:OS.

I have never heard of a game released on the PC being ported over to consoles increasing in price.

This game is going to make it's money on digital downloads from SONY and MS. Copies will be few and far between in stores. And licensing fee's for consoles are not priced at $20 per payer - unless they only expect to sell a few thousand copies.

It's a price hike that they've yet to explain and anyone who seems to ask about it get's an eyeroll or a "Omg this game is worth the increase!"

This is my own speculation, but I suspect the price increase is almost 100% due to the full voice acting. The original game did not have very much voice acting.
