You don't need two dedicated mages.
I use a sword and board with only man at arms
Rogue with scoundrel and 2 daggers
Archer with 1 point in scoundrel for haste and tons of special arrows to help with cc
And my mage, who mainly uses oil, (uses fire staff), but now I'm level 6 and really needing to use more buffs and cc.
But the archer really helps with the special arrows.
So you don't NEED two mages, but 2 cc is important
