Maybe you should check first which companion you're gonna use to decide the roles of your main heroes. There is a mage avalaible later on, so you don't need to get two at first if you prefer other playstyles. Personally, I did the other way around this time. Planning on hiring Madora and Bairdotr so I went for Wizard geo/pyro and Battlemage aero/shield, aero having good stuns for crowdcontrol.
