UPDATE: I restarted, making what I wanted as my 'main' guy on the left side in the creation screen (previous tried right hand side as per various posts from pre enhanded ed). This time when I teleported into the room with the lady in a bath, it choose my main guy for the conversation.
So either they've changed it to the left for the main hero or perhaps as Dr Koin said, it's random.
Anyway, I thought I'd post it, may help someone else and I'm not restarting again!
