Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity - Original Sin - Enhanced Edition Stuck at loading New Game screen

Hey guys,

First of all - I did my research but couldnｴt find any help after two hours googling/reading through forums.

Problem is that whenever I click a New Game, the loading screen appears, music plays, game tips change but no loading is happening.

Latest version of the game on i5 4460, 8Gb RAM, GTX 670, SSD, Win 7 64 Home Premium.

I also noticed that I canｴt find any games for MP. The game seems unable to connect to Internet??

I tried, reinstalling (first on HDD then system SSD), switching off Firewall, changing various graphic settings, running in administrator/compatibility mode, delete the Documents/Divinity ... folder, reinstalling MS Visual C++, ... Nothing helped.
The original game ran no problem.

Any suggestions are very welcome!

Upgraded to WIN10 and still the same problem. Waiting for reply from support. Please send any ideas how to fix this. Thanks.


EDIT: Apparently WIN10 helped. In game now.

I have the exact same problem, and I don't want to install WIN10. I've been asking everywhere for 3 days now.

so what about win10 do you think was what made the game work for you because I have posted 2 threads about this same problem and done hours of searching online for solutions...nothing has come up. I also sent msg to support but no word yet.

That forum is just dead to them, and it seems that their support is inactive.

I searched a long time to find this. My game ran launched like normal but nothing happened at the new game loading screen.

1. Run command promt as administrator.
2. Type netsh winsock reset
3. Reboot
4. Start game, and you should see a popup asking to allow game access to internet.

I started the game and now the loading screen loads and the game works.

Were you starting a single player game? I thought the last update was going to include a change that would avoid this problem for a single player game (the client/server connection would not use sockets).

In any case, without fixing the system problem (by reseting the network adapter, as you described), clicking on Join from the main menu would continue to give an error about network initialization. This can be caused by a too strict firewall, network drivers or other problems with a network card.

Yes it was single player. That's why I thought this was a weird fix. Nothing worked for me until I tried this. I had tried running all kinds of compatability modes, switching off antivirus, firewall, searching on all kinds of forums and reinstalling several times.
