Ok, so ... this area is bizarre ... and there are little to no clues. I'm tired, need to sleep now, maybe that's why, but this area doesn't make any sense and there is no online guide anywhere I can find to help me with it. I'm stuck in the stupid fake version of the opening tavern. I am just randomly clicking on crap, going downstairs/back up/ can't get in a locked room, no keys anywhere just body parts ... nothing makes sense.

Did you find the key downstairs? Your characters should comment on something when you get close. That will let you open a door on the main floor and proceed.

Amazing what sleep will do ... yeah, I got to Trife after finding that key in the book and then burning Astarte. I was just too tired last night, was trying to finish the game and it was past 6:00 AM ... bad idea.
