I purchased Original Sin: Enhanced Edition via Steam specifically because it advertises I can play cooperatively with my friends on Xbox One if I'm on Windows10. Steam also lists the game as supporting cross-platform play, thus it bolstered my decision to buy on PC.

Currently Cross-platform play is a lie. There is no option for cross-platform gameplay. Windows10/Steam only sees Steam games, and my copy on Xbox One only sees Xbox One games.

Larian Studios, can you please comment on the state of cross-platform play and let us know if this will be addressed?

Otherwise I feel lied to and my money ill-spent on 2 different copies. :(

Cross platform multiplayer is only supported on PC (Windows / Mac / Linux, Steam or GOG). Multiplayer between consoles and PC is not supported; Xbox One can only play multiplayer with another game on Xbox One, and the same for PS4.

That is disappointing, to say the least. It was your own words in the following thread that helped my decision to purchase the game on PC instead of XBOne.

Another statement that helped mislead me, but gives me hope that it may still happen:

"We're planning to support Windows 10 and Xbox One cross-platform play but that won't be available on day one," creative director and CEO Swen Vincke told Digital Spy.

So is it still planned? Or has Larian dropped this concept entirely?

I said that it was technically possible to support cross platform multiplayer between Windows 10 and Xbox One, but at the time that was not announced/confirmed for the game.

AFAIK this is still planned, if possible. I'm not involved in that directly, and have not heard anything else about it since that article.
The next console patch will need to be released, at least, to bring the Xbox One version up to par with Windows 10. If there are any additional updates to the PC version, that would get the versions out of sync again (at least for awhile), given the much more elaborate patch process on consoles.

I hope it gets sorted out and implemented. It would put Larian in a unique position as one of very few development houses to support such a thing.

Similarly unique, D:OS is a game that can bypass Microsoft's usual prejudice against cross-platform game play since it focuses on cooperative play and the mouse/keyboard doesn't give any unfair advantage/disadvantage.

Just my two cents. smile
