Click on Start | Run, type in 'dxdiag' then go to the Sound tab of the DirextX Diagnostic Tool that opens.

I treid the new beta drivers and I was still getting the same sound problem, but I was able to set it to basic acceleration which solved some problems I was having it cracking and poping in other games.
